South African Airways win Staff Service Excellence Award for Africa region




South African Airways was named winner of the Airline Staff Service Excellence Africa award at the 2011 World Airline Awards, in a ceremony held at the Paris Air Show.  

The runners-up in the Airline Staff Service Excellence Africa category are Kenya Airways taking 2nd place in the category, ahead of Kulula in 3rd position.

Voted by over 18.8 million airline passengers from 100 different nationalities, the World Airline Awards are the most prestigious quality recognition of front-line product and service standards for the world airline industry. With 200 airlines featured, the awards measure customer satisfaction levels across 38 different items of airline front-line product and service.

South African Airways has evolved into one of the leading carriers in Africa, they offer the biggest route network in Africa and fly to more destinations, both overseas and within South Africa, than anyone else. South African Airways flies to 30 international destinations in 26 countries in Africa, Europe, the Americas, Asia and Australasia. The airline has a strong presence in Southern Africa, while domestically it serves five cities.

 

KENYA AIRWAYS

Kenya Airways, is the largest airline of Kenya. The company was founded in 1977, after the dissolution of East African Airways. The airlines main base is at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport. The airline was wholly owned by the Government of Kenya until April 1995, and it was privatised in 1996, becoming the first African flag carrier in successfully doing so. As of June 2011 the carrier's destination network comprises 54 cities in Asia, Africa and Europe.
