Qatar Airways is named Best
Airline in the Middle East at World Airline Awards™ |
|
|
Qatar Airways was named the Best Airline Middle East at the 2011 World Airline Awards,
in a ceremony held in the French Air and Space Museum at the Paris Air Show.
The runners-up in this category are Etihad Airways
taking 2nd place in the category, ahead of Emirates in 3rd position.

base in Doha. Using a fleet of 96 aircraft, the airline operates one of the youngest fleets in
the world with an average age of less than 4.1 years, and it is one of the few airlines to fly

Etihad Airways is the National Airline of the United Arab Emirates. The airline was set up by a
Royal Decree in July 2003, with Abu Dhabi, the capital of the UAE, as its hub. Etihad started
commercial operations in November 2003. The airline operates more than 1000 flights per week to
66 destinations in 44 countries,[2] via a fleet of 57 aircraft. Its operation is heavily centered in Europe and Asia, as well as Oceania, Africa and North America. Its main base
is Abu Dhabi International Airport.

Emirates is the largest airline in the Middle East, operating over 2,400 passenger flights per
week, from its hub at Dubai International Airport Terminal 3, to 111 cities in 62 countries
across six continents. The company also operates three of the world's ten longest non-stop
commercial flights from Dubai to Los Angeles, San Francisco and Houston. Several new
destinations are added each year. In 2010 the airline was the sixth-largest airline in the
world in terms of international passengers carried, and largest in the world in terms of
scheduled international passenger-kilometres flown.
