"A repeat win for Singapore Airlines being named as world's Best Business Class is a clear mark of
customer support for their new Business Class" says Edward Plaisted, CEO of Skytrax. "The business class seat is marketed by Singapore
Airlines as 'The most spacious the world has ever seen', and whilst maybe not suited to every passenger's taste, it remains a
clear quality benchmark for long-haul business class."
"The business class experience has moved on very quickly in recent years, and we are now seeing three different quality leagues
amongst the world airlines when assessing product and service standards" said Plaisted. "At the top end of the scale, the onboard product now dictates a proper flat-bed
seat, on-demand dining and entertainment options, luxury associated amenities, and of course a top quality level of staff service."
"The airport experience has also taken on a much greater importance, and the airlines that top our quality leagues tend to be those that have
invested in considerable improvement to the passenger experience on the ground. Enhanced, fast-track check in facilities, luxurious lounge
facilities, and a general level of service dedication that can be classified as delivering a premium standard" said Edward Plaisted.
Air New Zealand has moved into 2nd place of Business Class ranking, based around a much improved product standard now being widespread
across their fleet, and what customers have described as a 'better feeling of premium service' in both airport and onboard environments.
Despite the difficult year British Airways has endured with a series of Heathrow handling debacles, their Club World Business Class still
meets with approval from passengers, ranking 3rd in the 2008 results. "As Terminal 5 operations settle down, and the impact of BA's much
improved lounge facilities at Heathrow filter through, we expect to see them maintaining a strong performance in this Business Class
category" says Edward Plaisted.
