Singapore Airlines beats off competition to win the Best Business Class Award for 2007, ahead of Virgin Atlantic and Cathay Pacific

Singapore Airlines sets the pace in taking the World's Best Business Class Award

Singapore Airlines is the winner of the Best Business Class category in the 2007 World Airline Awards, one of the most competitively fought sections of the survey.

"Business class across the world has seen some considerable change over the past year" said Edward Plaisted (CEO of the research organisation, Skytrax). "It is a key area for airlines to achieve excellence, if they are to secure the necessary customer loyalty for their premium products, and Singapore Airlines set a trail to follow when they unveiled their new Business class at the end of 2006".

"Comfort, convenience, service, consistency and value are customer requirements that have to be both satisfied, and where possible exceeded, for a Business class to truly stand out from the others - and clearly Singapore Airlines are delivering in these areas to be named as winner of the Best Business class award" added Plaisted.

"The expansion of all business-class airlines across selected Atlantic routes looks likely to expand to other parts of the world, although this specialist market is much more sensitive to any economic downturn and does not appeal to all long term investors. However, the established, legacy airlines know that to maintain true loyalty to their cause, they have to match the highest standards across the industry, and we certainly see this when we examine standards across our Business class award winners" said Plaisted.

"What we now see in many Business class products is far ahead of what First Class was offering 10 years ago, and I guess the question we have to ask is how much further can quality be improved for the Business Class customer! Flat beds, luxury amenities, flexible catering options, endless entertainment choices - and where it counts, service delivered in a unique manner".
