The World Airline Awards promise

The reputation of the World Airline Awards has been built by Skytrax strict adherence to its founding principles set out when the awards began in 1999. The central focus is to deliver a passenger survey and airline awards process that is independent, impartial and global, and this ethos remains essential to all aspects in the present day. The survey and awards process is funded by Skytrax, and is not a profit-generating operation. A key directive of the survey is for customers to make their own, personal choices as to which airlines they consider to be the best, underlining the brand as the Passenger's Choice Awards.
Awards promises

Travellers from across the globe take part in the world’s largest airline passenger satisfaction survey to decide award winners, and Skytrax seek to deliver a transparent survey and Awards process. Key elements of the World Airline Awards promise include:

The Customer survey is not restricted to member airlines or a pre-selected choice of airlines. Any airline in the world can be nominated in the survey.

There is no membership subscription, registration or any charge for an airline to be included in the survey.

There is no third party survey involvement or sponsorship of the Survey process.

There is no charge for airlines (or anyone else) to attend the World Airline Awards ceremony.

There is no third party involvement in Awards data assessment, the winners being voted for directly by customers.

The Customer survey is not connected to any type of trade association.

Edward Plaisted of Skytrax commented: "We operate these Awards on a not-for-profit basis, applying most rigorous monitoring to the survey process, and we can guarantee that there is no outside influence or airline involvement. The integrity and reputation of the Skytrax Passenger's Choice awards relies on the ability to maintain transparency across all areas of the survey and awards format. We know that some Award winning airlines may not the favourite of everyone, and we receive vocal feedback and complaints from a few users each year when results are published. However, we can do no more than remind them that Award winning airlines are decided by airline customers, and not by Skytrax."
